Cling To The Cross
What power there is in weakness... Audio Clip
I wore a necklace when I was young
It wasn’t much of anything at all
Just a tiny gold cross on a tiny gold chain
But I’d had it ever since I was small
But then one day it fell from my neck
And disappeared in the rain
My necklace was missing from next to my heart
And I thought I’d never see it again
I searched high and I searched low
And then a light flashed in the rain
And I ran…and I clung to that cross
Oh, how I clung to that cross
A symbol of the One who died for me
Yes, how I clung to that cross
A symbol of the One who set me free
And everything else in the world could all be lost
As long as I could cling to that cross
Kids grow older - they stop being young
Adults think that they know it all
So I put away that cross with its tiny gold chain
I didn’t need anything that small
But then one night I fell to my knees
And I cried alone in the rain
Something was missing from next to my heart
And I thought I’d never know peace again
I had searched high, and I had searched low
And then a light flashed in my brain
And I ran…and I clung to the Cross
And I will cling to that Cross
A symbol of the One who died for me
Yes, I will cling to that Cross
A symbol of the One who set me free
And everything else in the world could all be lost
As long as I can cling to the Cross
Jesus loves me, He who died
Heaven’s gate to open wide
He will wash away my sin
Let His little child come in
If only I will cling to Him
Oh I will cling to that Cross
A symbol of the One who died for me
Yes, I will cling to that Cross
A symbol of the One who set me free
And everything else in the world could all be lost
As long as I can cling to the Cross
