How We Spent Our Days   Audio Clip

For Carden Traditional School's 8th Grade Graduating Class of 2008

We tossed around a football or a Frisbee with our friends

Something we knew well was how to play

We shared good jokes and laughter and races 'round the field

Recess was the best time of the day

Back inside the classroom we chased ideas instead

Found connections we had never known

Built some strange contraptions, inventions from our heads

Expressed a certain viewpoint all our own

Chorus:   We will remember how we spent our days

And we will treasure and measure

The many, many ways we're bound together

'Cause, you know, we'll be a family always

We will remember how we spent our days

We pushed toward perfection, a never-ending goal

We stressed from doing everything and more

There were no easy answers, no magic wand to wave

To get ready for the future lying just outside our door

We helped out those who struggled when the burden wore them down

Took the time to show them we cared

Wove ourselves together in a tapestry of trust

What each one could not do alone, together we dared (Chorus)

Bridge:

Sure, we let each other down - but we picked each other up

Took the risks we dreaded, and grabbed the golden ring

Wrestled with our consciences - and lost a time or two

But even if we could, we wouldn't change a single thing (Instrumental Chorus)

Now we're sitting here together, but soon we'll be apart

It's getting hard to hold back the tears

But we have built a legacy of love within our hearts

Is the way we spent our days

A clue to how we'll spend our years?

All through the years...(Final Chorus)
