THREE-CLOUD BOOGALOO

from SEI Boot Camp June 2008 - Grade 2 Science

Moderate Jazzy Swing...

Wake up, brains, here’s some facts to chew:

We’re chanting the THREE-CLOUD BOOGALOO!

Our sky is full of water and air

Sometimes this water takes a dare:

It gathers together from all around

And rises up, away from the ground

Clouds appear; you know them well

So it’s time for a rhyming show and tell:

Each cloud is unique, like me and you-

Take attendance with our THREE-CLOUD BOOGALOO!

Cirrus, Cumulus, Stratus, too---

Rolling in with the THREE-CLOUD BOOGALOO!

Cirrus is the highest type of cloud we know--

So far from the ground it waves hello

Its shape is so fine, and kind of wispy

It’s closest to the sun; hope it doesn’t get crispy!

Cumulus is found in the middle space

It’s the fluffy white cloud that we ALL can place

It gets us imagining creatures we know

Bit by bit, it likes to change and grow

Stratus is a low-lying type of cloud

Which doesn’t mean that it can’t be proud:

These flat, gray clouds hold gentle rain

To bring dry plants back to life again

So now we’re through with our boogaloo chant

There’s one last idea that we want to “plant:”

Clouds are friends to our planet Earth

Let’s celebrate their special worth!

Cirrus, Cumulus, Stratus, too---

We’re done with the THREE-CLOUD BOOGALOO!
