Some Ideas for Our Interview
Interviews may flow more smoothly if you have in mind already some idea of the message you wish to send with your song. Feel free to think on these questions awhile; focus on whichever ones seem most important to you. E-mail me your thoughts, or I can take notes as we speak together by phone.
Please note, the following ideas are by no means exhaustive and are meant only to prompt your own thinking. If something is not mentioned on this page, bring it up in our interview!
Who am I, the giver of the song? Who is/are the receiver[s]?
How are we related to one another?
What is the main message I want to send with my song?
What mood or emotion am I looking to share with the receiver?
What is the occasion of the gift?
When and in what manner do I wish to present it?
What five (ten, twenty...) words best describe the receiver?
What "favorite things" would the receiver like in his/her song? Especially for children, but we all have them: foods, drinks, colors, books, movies, sports, games, toys, places, languages, pets...etc.
What style of music does the receiver enjoy? What are his/her/their favorite instruments?
Are there any specific performing groups or artists the receiver might enjoy? Favorite songs?
Is there a shared story waiting to be retold? Any "in" jokes? Family legends?
Is there any material that should be avoided in the song?
Are there specific words, phrases or ideas that MUST be included?
Anything else you want to add?
Thanks for considering a custom song from Key of E Flat!
